A former athletic director in the Baltimore area has been sentenced to four months in jail following his involvement in creating a racist and antisemitic audio recording that impersonated the principal of Pikesville High School. Dazhon Darien, 32, pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of disturbing school operations as part of a plea agreement, according to the Baltimore County State’s Attorney’s Office.

In a prepared statement, it was revealed that the audio clip fabricated by Darien included derogatory comments targeting both Black and Jewish students. This incident, which took place in January 2024, aimed to undermine Principal Eric Eiswert’s credibility, who reported that he had been in discussions regarding Darien’s non-renewal of contract due to performance-related issues.

The recording quickly gained traction after being shared on social media, resulting in multiple threats against Eiswert and prompting a swift reaction from Baltimore County Public Schools, which educates over 100,000 students.
