In an effort to promote sustainable transportation and reduce traffic congestion, the city of Miami has officially launched its first-ever citywide electric bike-sharing program. The new initiative, announced on August 4, 2024, aims to provide residents and visitors with an eco-friendly alternative for getting around the city, making it easier to navigate Miami’s busy streets while lowering the city’s carbon footprint.
The program, dubbed “Miami eRide,” will offer an extensive network of electric bikes available for rent at over 100 stations throughout the city. These e-bikes, equipped with rechargeable batteries, will provide an easy and efficient way to travel short distances, offering a viable solution for commuters and tourists alike. With speeds of up to 20 miles per hour and a range of 30 miles per charge, the bikes are designed for both convenience and practicality, making them ideal for daily use or leisurely exploration of Miami’s scenic neighborhoods.
“This is a huge step forward in creating a greener, more sustainable Miami,” said Mayor Daniella Levine Cava at the program’s launch event. “Electric bikes will reduce reliance on cars, alleviate traffic congestion, and help make our city more livable for everyone.
