Galaxy Unpacked July 2025 expands Samsung’s mobile and immersive tech ambitions
Samsung’s annual Galaxy Unpacked event, held on July 9, 2025, delivered a sweeping array of product announcements and concept previews that signal the tech giant’s strategic push into the next generation of foldables, wearables, and extended reality (XR) platforms.
Foldables Reimagined: Galaxy Z Fold 7 Ultra and Z Flip 7
At the center of the event were the flagship Galaxy Z Fold 7 Ultra and Galaxy Z Flip 7, both of which received significant hardware upgrades. The Fold 7 Ultra introduces an 8-inch Infinity Flex display powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and features Samsung’s most advanced 200 MP camera system to date.
Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 offers a more powerful clamshell design, with a 6.9-inch internal display and a newly expanded 4.1-inch cover screen. The Flip 7 also boasts a larger 4,300 mAh battery and is expected to ship with Samsung’s next-gen Exynos 2500 processor.
Pre-orders have already launched globally, with early customers receiving up to $1,150 in promotional upgrades, including credits, trade-in bonuses, and exclusive accessories.
Galaxy Watch 8 Series: Fitness and Performance Front and Center
Samsung also unveiled its Galaxy Watch 8 lineup, featuring two models: the Classic and Ultra. The Classic retains the signature rotating bezel beloved by longtime Galaxy users, while the Ultra debuts a rugged, outdoor-focused design with a MicroLED display and enhanced biometric sensors.
Improvements include expanded health tracking, high-precision sleep analysis, and support for the newly updated One UI 8—Samsung’s custom Android 16 interface optimized for multitasking and AI-powered insights.
Project Moohan: Samsung’s XR Ambition Takes Shape
Perhaps the most futuristic reveal was Project Moohan, an XR headset designed in collaboration with Google and Qualcomm. Though still in development, the prototype was showcased on stage, positioning Samsung as a direct competitor to Apple’s Vision Pro in the immersive hardware race.
Project Moohan supports immersive productivity, real-time spatial audio, and multi-app interactions, with deeper software previews expected later this year. A commercial release date has yet to be confirmed.
Galaxy AI and the Connected Ecosystem
All new devices support Galaxy AI, Samsung’s intelligent assistant layer that powers cross-device functionality, contextual automation, and enhanced privacy controls. The new One UI 8 integrates this technology seamlessly, offering smarter reminders, AI photo enhancements, and live translation across devices.
Analysts view this year’s Unpacked as a calculated step forward for Samsung’s connected ecosystem. The company continues to lead in foldables while carving space in the XR and digital wellness sectors, setting the tone for mobile tech heading into 2026.
