While tech companies maintain that AI will create new roles in machine learning development, cybersecurity, and AI ethics, the rapid pace of automation has sparked significant concerns. Critics argue that many workers displaced by AI are ill-prepared for these new positions, with skills gaps making large-scale retraining programs essential. Without these programs, displaced workers could struggle to find new employment in the AI-driven job market.

Labor unions and government officials are calling for increased protections for workers, as well as tax incentives for companies that invest in reskilling initiatives. Policymakers are pushing for stronger workforce retraining programs to help workers transition into emerging roles in AI, tech, and related fields.
