Kyra Sedgwick’s New Fowl Friends
Kyra Sedgwick has recently added a new batch of feathered friends to her farm, but Whoopi Goldberg isn’t so sure their future is secure. On the April 1 episode of The View, Sedgwick, 58, opened up about her newfound love for chickens, which she and her husband, Kevin Bacon, have recently introduced to their farm family. While Sedgwick gushed about how much she loves the chickens, Goldberg had a humorous warning about their ultimate fate.
“Oh, my God, I love them so much,” Sedgwick shared, convinced that the chickens love her right back. Though still unnamed, the chickens have already become a cherished part of her life, alongside the farm’s other animals, including alpacas, pigs, mini horses, and a goat.
Sunny Hostin Offers Support, Goldberg Issues a Warning
Sunny Hostin, another co-host of The View, helped keep the mood light by reassuring Sedgwick, “They do, because they can recognize up to 30 faces,” validating Sedgwick’s belief that her chickens are just as affectionate as her other animals. However, Goldberg, never one to shy away from blunt humor, dropped a reminder of nature’s cycle: “You’ll feel terrible when you go to eat them,” she joked, suggesting that the chickens’ fate might eventually involve a trip to the dinner table.
Sedgwick laughed off the comment but did acknowledge that she and Bacon already enjoy the eggs from their chickens. Still, with the chickens still nameless, they’re not quite on the chopping block just yet. Sedgwick and Bacon, who have been together for over 30 years, clearly view their farm animals as more than just livestock, reflecting a deep connection to their growing animal family.
A Farm Full of Animals and Love
Both Sedgwick and Bacon are passionate animal lovers, and their farm has become a sanctuary for a variety of creatures. The couple often shares glimpses of their life with their animals, including an Instagram video from February 2024 where they serenaded their farm with an acoustic version of Beyoncé’s “Texas Hold ‘Em.” The chickens even made their first public appearance in an October 2023 TikTok video, where Bacon and their daughter Sosie performed Bruce Springsteen’s “Atlantic City” while introducing their new feathered companions. Bacon captioned the playful video: “A little Springsteen to welcome our chickens.”
Bacon’s Change in Diet and the Future of the Chickens
Despite their affection for animals, Bacon recently revealed in an interview with People that he no longer eats some of the farm animals they raise. “I no longer eat goat and I no longer eat pig because I have goats and I have pigs,” he shared, noting that Sedgwick often jokes about how their expanding animal family is outpacing their diet. While it seems the chickens are safe for now, it remains to be seen whether their future will be as pets or poultry.
Whether they end up as companions or eventually as part of the farm’s food supply, one thing is clear: Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon’s love for animals is a key part of their life together, and it’s something they are excited to share with their fans.
