Adidas has officially closed the book on its association with Kanye West’s Yeezy brand, confirming that all remaining inventory has been sold and no further production will take place. The announcement brings a definitive end to one of the most lucrative and culturally impactful sneaker collaborations in history.

Final Chapter in a High-Profile Breakup

The fallout between Adidas and West began in October 2022 when the company severed ties with the rapper and designer following his series of controversial public statements. However, due to existing inventory, Adidas continued selling Yeezy products throughout 2023 and 2024. Despite the termination of their partnership, demand for the remaining Yeezy stock remained strong, generating €650 million in revenue this year alone.

Now, with its warehouses cleared of Yeezy footwear, Adidas has made it clear that it will not revisit the collaboration, shifting its focus to new projects and its core sneaker lines.

Shifting Focus to a Post-Yeezy Era

Adidas CEO Bjørn Gulden acknowledged the significance of the Yeezy brand but emphasized that the company is now looking ahead. “While Yeezy was an important chapter for Adidas, we are focused on innovation and our future,” Gulden said.

The brand has seen success in revitalizing classic silhouettes, with models like the Samba, Gazelle, and Spezial experiencing a resurgence in popularity. Adidas has also doubled down on partnerships with athletes and emerging designers, hoping to maintain its cultural relevance without Yeezy.

Mixed Financial Impact

The end of the Yeezy line has had a complex effect on Adidas’ financial outlook. While global revenue saw a 12% increase in 2024, North American sales dipped by 2%, reflecting the loss of one of the brand’s biggest market drivers. However, Adidas remains optimistic that its evolving strategy will fill the gap left by Yeezy’s departure.

A New Sneaker Landscape

The sneaker industry has shifted dramatically since Yeezy’s rise to prominence, with resale markets fluctuating and consumer preferences evolving. Adidas now faces the challenge of continuing its momentum in the competitive sneaker space, where rival brands are aggressively expanding their influence through innovative designs and high-profile endorsements.

While the Yeezy partnership once redefined the sneaker industry, Adidas is betting that its future success will come from fresh collaborations and reinventions of its storied brand identity. Whether it can match the cultural and financial dominance of the Yeezy era remains to be seen.
