Baker took to Instagram to express his apologies to the supporters who contributed to the project and provided an update on its status.

The Kickstarter campaign, launched in 2020, had successfully raised over $300,000 from fans who were eager to see a spinoff featuring the iconic character of Stanley Hudson. However, after years of delays, fans began to wonder why the project had not moved forward, leading to Baker’s transparent communication about the obstacles that had slowed progress.

Delays Due to COVID and Strikes

Baker explained that the production had faced numerous setbacks, starting with the COVID-19 pandemic, which significantly impacted the project’s timeline. Once the situation began to improve, the team attempted to resume work, including fulfilling rewards for backers and moving into preproduction. However, the strikes by both the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and SAG-AFTRA caused another halt in the project.

“Due to the strikes, we will continue to hold indefinitely until an agreement is reached,” Baker stated, acknowledging the uncertainty surrounding the future of the show.

As the Uncle Stan project remains on hold, Baker made the decision to refund all donors who contributed to the campaign, including those who had already received rewards such as digital scripts and personal phone calls from Baker himself. However, the total refunded amount was far less than the original fundraising total.

Although the campaign had raised $336,450.53, Baker clarified that the actual amount received after the campaign was completed totaled only $110,629.81. He explained that many backers had either lowered or canceled their pledges after the campaign, resulting in the smaller sum.

In his post, Baker reassured fans that the funds raised had been used solely for fulfilling rewards and issuing refunds. He also emphasized that the remaining funds had been carefully accounted for and were left untouched. “No money was spent improperly,” he assured the fans, offering transparency as a sign of respect for their ongoing support.
